Limelight gives local residents the chance to shine with new volunteer programme

Limelight, the new £20m health, well-being and community services hub which opens in Old Trafford later this year, has launched a new campaign to find local people interested in becoming volunteers.

Trafford Housing Trust, who are behind the Limelight development, are looking in particular for enthusiastic and outgoing individuals, with some time to spare, who can help them in a number of specific roles.

These include managing the reception desk, helping plan and run events, and supporting and socialising with older people including those that will live adjacent to the Limelight hub.

The Trust would also like to hear from anyone with any specialist skills, such as gardening or IT, who is interested in contributing to the smooth running of the multi-purpose Limelight space on a volunteer basis.

Volunteering at Limelight offers a number of benefits for those involved including the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends; contribute to the local community; learn and develop a variety of skills; and obtain valuable employment experiences.

David Teasdale, Limelight Centre Manager

Limelight offers us an opportunity to try something really bold and different in Old Trafford from the very start and we see local volunteers drawn from across the community playing a key role in its success.

“We are looking for people from all backgrounds and different walks of life who want to become part of the Limelight’s inclusive and collaborative vision, and we are especially keen to find volunteers with specific skills they think might be helpful to us.”

Volunteers are being sought for Limelight’s opening in October, and successful applicants will be given a full induction in mid-September.

To apply, please complete our short online form or you can call the Limelight team to chat about the opportunities on 0161 968 0101 or email
